What does Dexamethasone actually do?

Hi

I just had my final stitches out post PK (20 months) and am wondering why at this late stage i am on 4x dexamethasone drops a day for 2 weeks? What does it actually do for me at this late stage of my healing process?

What effect does it have on my eye? Am i likely to see vision improvement when i stop taking them? Is it affecting my rate of healing as to reduce the formation of scar tissue?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Tom

can't say exactly what it does, but i understood that when they take the stitches out there is a little bit of damage around where the stitches were, and the drops are to prevent infection/rejection......

It is being used as an anti-inflammatory. Basically, to stops your eyes from going red and puffy after surgery.
