Just though I'd post an update on how things are progressing.
Its been just about 6 months since i had the CXL on my left eye. I was back for a checkup with my surgeon and optom today.
After 3-4 months of hardship trying to get a lens with good fit and good vision I'm back wearing the lens that was first fitted after my surgery. I was delighted to be told that it looks just fine on the eye. Which is good because this lens is very easy to wear. We tried 2 different lenses before going back to this one. One of them managed to put a scratch on my cornea and the vision was dreadful through the other.
From my surgeons side of things. He is very pleased with the results. The KC has been stopped and had even regressed slightly
I get one line more on the chart and have even gotten back some clarity while wearing glasses.
Now that all seems well in the left eye its time to have the right looked at.
He compared the Topography maps from January, March and 3 weeks ago.
There has been further steepening of my cornea unfortunately.
I have been booked in to have the CXL done on that eye for the 22nd of July.
It seems that it might be possibly to have the SIMLC done with this eye as the KC has not advanced as far, and so the cornea it somewhat thicker.
So fingers crossed all goes as well for this eye as it did with the last.
Rgds
Denis

Got the procedure done on the right eye yesterday.
A bit sore last night and hard to open this morning, but went back in for my post op check up this morning and all is ok.
just a bit tough using my left eye for everything. But all in all i'm pretty happy with it. Size 30 font all the way
Staff at the clinic were really great, so big thanks to them for making it as comfortable as they did.
Denis.

Re: CXL update
Denis,
Great news on the first eye! Sorry I missed your post.
Am so happy that things are going ok with the right eye. That sounds so positive! Hoping that it goes as well for the left I'm guessing that it is more comfortable now as your post was almost a week ago?
Best of luck with everything! Love Claire X x X

Re: CXL update
It not as comfortable as the last time i had it done. The bandage lens was taken out yesterday, so it feels a bit gritty now.The epithelium hasnt healed over as quick as with the left eye. There is still a defect in the center of the cornea. I will be going back on Tuesday to have a look at how things are going. If it isnt healing a well as expected a second banage lens might be put in.
When i had the left done in Feb it was all nice a gloomy outside so there was no hassle with bright sunlight.
My right eye is my dominant eye so i am missing a fair bit of sight, But it will all be behind me i a couple of weeks. Not so bad really.

Re: CXL update
Eye got really sore over the weekend. I had to get another bandage lens put on yesterday. The epithelium has healed over ok but it seems to be a bit rough, so it causes irritation when i blink. Suffering frim a bit of dry eye as well, so my optom gave me some different lubriticating drops which seem to be working well. Its a lot more comfortable now, Looks a lot better too. Going back next wed to have a checkup.
