Well they decided to try a lens now with the grafted eye.
The right eye they said, the graft will need to be too big. So no transplant on that eye. Will stay blind in rioght.
However when she put the lens in left eye...............wow.
I could see every line on the the chart. I was gobsmacked.
She said we would go with that lens even though i assured her it didnt fit. It's as good as we will get she said. :?
I've had lenses in the past for 20 yrs and always struggled with them.
But i was hoping that the grafted eye would be ok now with one.
But i can only use it for 2 hrs max even after a week. So its been banished to its holder till app in july.
I have astigmitism (sp) could that be why were struggling to get a good fit.
Im not being fobbed off with one thats uncomfortable.
I know when it doesnt fit properly.

Wow - that's terrific vision. Must have been a real shock after all this time. But in your shoes, I'd be happy to see a line or two fewer on the chart if it meant a comfortable lens! I'm sure you'll stick to your guns in July, and so you should. Perfect vision is all very well, but not that useful if you can only have it for 2 hours a day. Post graft corneas are often still not very regular (I know mine at their steepest at the join between the graft and my own cornea) so fitting isn't always easy. But I do hope that with all the different types of lenses around now, the optometrist will be able to find a design that you can wear for most of the day. And there's always the option of piggy backing.
All the best
Anne

Hi man , cool that you have sight but i would not be putting up with been told that is "as good as we can get " , if the lens is not comfortable for you to wear then it aint as good as she / he can get and they will have to look at another option. Obviously there may have to be compromise at some points between comfort and perfect vision but i suggest you always endeavor for the best out of your contact lenses. I know fitting is not always easy but at the end of the day the said person choose it as a career , they should not stop at the first try just because you can see , contact lens fitting is so much more than just been able to see clearly .

Hi cherishu2

Everyone here is correct, there are many contact lens options out there. Even if the eye is really difficult to fit, there can sometimes be surgical tweaks that can be made to improve the corneal shape. Let us know how you get on!
