This may seem strange but I wonder if anyone else here has experienced this or can shed any light on the story.....

It feels like my left eye is turning into my nose a little, now I say 'feel' and not looks as when I glance right both eyes look right, but my left eye clearly moves far more to the right than my right eye..if that makes sense!

When I look extreme left, I get a 'pulling' sensation in the left eye, as if something is stopping it and does not move as much to the left as my right eye does?

I have also noticed that if I look at things close up anything in the background goes really blurry and vice versa, when looking at things in the distance anything closer goes double in my vision..like when I am typing this is I focus on the text and put my finger about 10inches (or whatever) from my face it is doubled and as I bring it closer the doubleing is worse!

Sorry, this dont make much sense but my girlfriend commented she has noticed that my left eye seems to turn into my nose at times if I change my gaze quiclky and then centres itself after maybe only 1 second...I have been playing in the mirror this morn and I can see what she means, only just tho!

Maybe I need to video myself!

I just wondered if the allignment of eyes might change as the KC becomes more devloped in one eye and the other one takes over and the brain has to re-educate itself?

My right eye has always been my 'lazy' eye due to some dodgy surgery when young, but now I think it is becomoning the dominate eye as the left KC is advancing..would this explain the allignment change?

Thanks for reading this, just a bit concerned now as the more 'self tests' (you know what we are all like obessively testing our own vision!) the more I notice the change!

Id say that the eye with more KC in it may be getting lazy and the other eye with clearer and useable vision may be becoming the dominant eye.

In the morning when you wake up, and are shown light which eye closes first, if any?

mmm not sure..I will check in the morn!

But yes I tend to be using the right eye more for everyday use...I have noticed that automatically I am switching to my right eye by supressing the lefts vision by crossing it in towards my nose, then the right becomes the 'dominant' eye.

All very strange this KC thing ain't it!

My Lazy Eye or the one with 1/60 vision has always had a squint and my good eye has always dominated it.

I have noticed since my KC has progressed in my good eye that my bad eye has switched itself back on again and the squint has become a lot worse.

I spoke to the optometrist about this and he says that its to do with the way the brain interprates binocular vision and compensates with eye postion relative to subject.

In my case I have a dead central cone which pretty well makes the centre of my field useless so I function on my peripheral vision. My eyes realign themselves to give the best overall field from both sides so for the first time in my life I have sterioscopic vision with very wonky eyes.

Your not alone but definately quirky. I have been through 3 medical libraries trying to find an artical on the neuralogical interactions of KC and I have not found a thing.

The nasal side of the field in my lazy eye is non existant so the eye pulls itself intowards my nose to give binocular fusion. Is that what is happening in your case?

Well, the light in the morning thing I really notice no difference!

I too like you Drew have a decreasing visual field in my left 'strong' eye, to the pint now where things get lost and then reapper as I change my gaze...lamposts and cars to my left are a good example when in a car!

My right eye has always been lazy since being over corrected and if I tried to use this eye with my left I would get double vison....now I dont!

My right eye must be kicking in as I do get a small amount of double vision when using both my eyes, the right eyes vission adds the double image!

Why would my right eye move closer to my nose if it is getting stronger? Is the brain working harder to supress it?

If I follow a pen from arms length to my nose tip....by the time it is near my face my right eye is turned right into my nose....whilst the left is straight, and the image is almost 'single' as opposed to double.

As always tho'..if I cover my left 'stronger' eye the right eye goes straight....

Oh hell...I remember when I shoved a CL in and that was that!

Hi Dave

Im glad im not the only one.... I still don't have an answer that fully explains why I am having problems like you describe.

I did find it really helpful to draw my fields on a bit of paper and stick it infront of my consultant - he did at least take me seriously then.

Can you let me know if you get any sense out of your consultant would mean I might stand a fair chance with a prevailing wind of getting a sensible answer out of mine.

My Doctor finally agreed today to send me to see a neurologist to see if he can shed any light...so will keep you updated..in the meantime I like you will do my own research!

Have only been a member of Bupa for 5 weeks and they agreed to pay up for it too, that was a nice surprise!

Drew, a funny question but do you have any problems with your hearing? I have only slightly in the same side my visual field is c**p on and throbbing pain in the temple/eye socket area...just wondering if linked?

I have a bit of nerve deafness in my left ear wich is the same side as my lazy eye.

I do get throbbing in my right eye socket especially when tired. In my case I think this is muscle pain due to my nystagmus.
