CXL : After effects

Postby djain3 » Fri 14 May 2010 12:30 pm

Hi,

I undergone CXL surgery in Oct'09.

I have completed 6 months. Still if water goes in my operated eye, it get very red.

Also, my operated eye doesn't open full. It opens 70% now. Also, if I am not able to take proper sleep in night then operated eye remains very heavy and stressed. While this is not the case with other eye. :(

Does anyone else also observed similar issues?

Please advise. Any suggestions?

Regards,
Deepak

Hi Deepak

I had CXL done 3 months ago but have none of the symptoms you have described.
Just a bit of haze in the vision still.

Might be worth having a chat with your surgeon about it.

Denis.

Hi Deepak

Im sorry to hear of your problems after the CXL procedure.
I have yet to hear of anyone else having similar problems.
Without a doubt it is advised to speak to the Ophthalmologist who carried out the procedure.
Please keep us posted as to your progress.

All the best when you go to see your surgeon again. We all know how frustrating it can be when you put all your hope in a particular surgical intervention and the outcome is not what you expected.

Maybe part of the problem is that CXL is still a relatively new treatment and there is not yet a body of experience that would equip patients with a realistic expectation of possible outcomes. Still, you are not yet all the way through recovery, so do not lose heart.

When you see your ophthalmologist, do explain the difficulty you are having and ask whether there are any signs of why you are still suffering.

Please do keep us in touch.

Every good wish

Andrew
