Hi all

I had intacs in my left eye yesterday, the operation wasn't too bad, eye is a bit sore and red but only had to stay for 4 hours after due to the general anaesthetic.

The great thing is my vision, when I woke up in recovery I was able to read the 'wash your hands' notice next to the sink on the other wall... on the ward I could look out the window and see the individual bricks on the building across the road from the hospital. The vision is amazingly improved, and without any glasses etc. I can notice the far outer part of my vision is a bit blurry, still some double vision/ghosting and I haven't yet been out and about to see what distance vision is properly like. I was told the only thing I can't do is swim for 2 weeks. Yesterday before the op I was unable to read normal sized print, I couldn't see the top letter on the chart, the difference now is remarkable

I have 4 weeks of drops and then back to see the consultant, I think there's a stitch (or more) to be removed at some point, and then I guess they will see if I need glasses or lenses. I know vision may change as it heals and settles down.

Very glad I decided to give this a try instead of going for a graft

im currently thinking about intacs, i have to return to my specialist in may with an answer for him, but i am undecided.
My specialist didnt want me to think that my vision will be improved as results have varied in his words which has put me off.
BUT im fed up of wearing my lenses and have recently had an infection so rang in sick for work as glasses dont correct my vision.

What made you make the decision? anyone had bad experiences? any other successes?
