after seeing my nhs optician recently they gave me the impression they have run out of ideas with regards to my KC...i personally think its due to them being a very small department and having there hands tied with regards to budgets , not that it helps me in my quest to see and try and live a normal life...the only options i have ever been offered is rose k( ok for the first few years) and now a "nlk" lens..and thats it despite myself being able to find loads of different types of lenses for KC via google!!...every time i say to my specialist that the lens isnt right they turn around and tell me "well it looks like a good fit" as if im not going to know any difference despite being the one who has to wear it everyday..

any ideas?!

It seems that the Kerasoft IC lens by Ultravison is becoming very popular. Its not avalible in the US. but check your avalibility.

I don't know if you're on our mailing list, but we've just sent out a newsletter to all our mailing list members which included a very good article on all the different lens options available. If you haven't had this, do e-mail your postal address to anne@keratoconus-group.org.uk and I'll send you a copy.
And if you think the problem is that you go to a very small eye dept, you could ask your GP to refer you to a bigger hospital with a contact lens department where you might be given more options.

If you are being seen by a small hospital clinic, why not ask for a referral to a larger regional centre.

Of course, it may be that there are clinical indicators that limit the choice of lens for your particular case, but you are entitled to a second opinion.
