hi everyone, i just thought i'd introduce myself and ask a couple of questions at the same time.

i was diagnosed with KC when i was 14 nearly 25 years ago now, i started off wearing hard lenses and after going to Moorfields in my early 20's now wear RGP lenses, which have improved over the years but still cause me to swear a little some days :)

i live in leicestershire if anyone round my area on here.

my questions are i've always used the same solutions over the years but suffer with terrible dry eyes, could my solution be at fault, haven't named it at the moment as not sure if allowed. also what sunglasses do you all find best, i have to wear them all year round and am considering investing in rayban's but not sure how good they are.

Welcome Carol,
nice to see you joining in!
Wel las for the dry eyes and solutions... I've heard people rant and rave here about Systane which is an eyedrop for comfort.. As for solutions.. who knows!
I would suggest you go to your Optom and seek their advice.. mention to them what you may have found as possibles to use and im sure they can give you professional advice!
As for sunglasses... weill i Prefer Gucci maself! but when i asked my optom about it.. he goes any will do.. so long as they are UV protected. So, Gucci, here i come!
Guess it all depends on your taste!

Hi Carol,

I am not far from Leicester, Rugby to be precise, but I work in Loughborough. Recently I have had to back to RGP lenses and found the solutions I was given were good but did limit my lens wear. For me I found trough trial and error which protein tablets were best and which saline was best so on a good day I can hit 2 hours, but usually average 8. Unless anyone else has any advice, solutions is a case of trial and error, however I would say change one component ata time so if you get an improvement, you know exactly what has made the improvemnet. If you have used the same solutions for a long time, you may have become sensitised but I hope not.

My sunglasses only cost eight ponds (having to write it as my lap top is US keyboard and can not find the symbol with no lenses!), they are not stictly speaking sunglasses, but safety glasses which are darker than average sunglasses and have a tinted shield on he side so I get no light through the edges of the glasses. They also UV protect and are excellent at keeping wind and dust out of your eyes.
