Well...

t'was not me but John that put it there! I was pleasantly surprised when I logged in the other day to see it!

And it did occur to me that people could test their vision with it... when he first put it up it was huge...took up too much space..now it is a real test of vision..

hmmm I could try and work out what each line actually meant sight wise depending on how far away you were from the screen....

Hi Claire,

What a great idea - and such a simple one, too!

The Eye-test chart is now available on the main KC site at a bigger size in a nice permanent position, so you can see how your vision is improving from day-to-day.

Just remember that there are too many variables to make this an accurate test - screen resolution, monitor size, monitor settings, distance from you to the screen... even the height of the graphic on the screen can make a big difference!

So try and keep everything the same if you use it, each time you use it.

Hope it's useful though.

To find it, click on "Home", and then it's the nice bright yellow link to the bottom left of the page. (Or here.)

And sorry. No. This won't stop you falling over tables

Nice one John!!

there is a link here that explains how you can convert what you see on the screen to an actual test - well nearer an actual test and there is a link on that screen to a page which explains how a test chart works, how it compares to the US system and what Count Fingers at different distances actually means.

If you are using this chart as a measure of vision - make sure you don't cheat by measuring how far away you are from the screen each time you do it and NO LEANING FORWARDS!!! hehe....

Hehe! No cheating going on here. NO WAY!! Would i do something like that, as sweet and innocent as i am!!! LMAO!!!

Also John can you move that dam table i cant seem to find my way around it as i fell over it again this morning, and it was in a different place!! OUCH!!!!!!!

Just for the record i am not that obsessive about testing my vision! Its only because it has been so bad the last two weeks, and having a baseline here i can see if it is getting better or worse!! It is only because i lost three lines here that i went back to A and E, sometimes i know what i am doing lol!

I will check out the larger chart when i can see better, i know that is a contradiction! But i guess i know where i am now on this little chart and its become my new friend lmao! And i know where i have to sit to look at it, but its a lot closer than it should be, but so long as i use the same distance every time i am happy with that! Abd wuth my eyesight the way it is right now, i cant see the monitor from where i should be sitting lmao!!!

Thanks for a larger one though i will check it out!

Well, I don't mind saying that I too have often wondered about self testing, alongside regular clinic visits obviously.

Sometimes my vision seems to fluctuate from day to day or hour to hour and at times I wonder is this right or is it just me and madness setting in?

Is it possible to get a copy of an eye chart for home use, other than on PC???

Hi Susan here is link to some....a bit pricey for me anyway...may be due to these not being for domestic use...good idea though as my eye sight changes as much as yours some days

...i am sure there must be cheaper ones out there..I'll have a look around as i want one as well...

just type in "eye charts" (with an "S") in the search field on this site
