Got the knack!

In is now easy, just pops right in.

I have mastered getting out, just slide it down a litttle bit at the bottom, then I can grab it no problem.

Simples!

Further update:

Well I can get it in/out most of teh time OK. Unfortunately my vision is really quite poor :(

I had such high hopes this lens would work. I'm due back at the OPticians (I seem to spend half my life there these days) on Thursday, so maybe it just needs a (fairly big) tweak.

The lens is extremely comfortable though. Really hope I don't need to go back to RGP!! He said Hybrid lens might bew an option as well.

I never know which is the better way round for them to fit lenses: get the vision right first then worry about comfort, or get the comfort right first and then tweak the vision?

All the best for your next appointment. Does your optometrist give Air Miles? :D

Lens fitting is often a compromise and in the past I've had occasions where the lens that arrives isn't quite the same visiona s we got on the test fit. In every case it has just been a slight tweak and job done.

Hope the same pans out for you.

Frequent visits might be a pain in the but, but once you get a lens that works for you, you'lll be glad you purservered.

Just an update on whats been happening (been a while)

Tried a couple more Kerasofts, but the veision up close was really poor, and I sit in fornt of a PC at work all day. Also, the haloes I was getting were really bad and often ditrsacting.

After trying to persist, I gave up and went back to my RGP.

That was 6 months ago. Now (again) I am finding my RGP almost unbearable. Most days I do not last the whole day with it. Have tried drops and all sort, but they only give relief for about 15 mins.

Due back at Opto's next week. I need to discuss other options as I cannot go on with this RGP lens. It is still driving me absolutely crazy.

Wish I could just get glasses (may suggest it)....also still thinking about intacs, though the thought of any sort of eye surgery makes me go a bit wobbly.

Will keep y'all posted

i am no specialist... but piggy-backs work for me and really solved my problems.... i got the vision i needed from the RGP but with much better comfort....
i wear Acuvue Oasys -1 soft lens under my RGP- and it gives good cushioning to the RGP and has good oxygen permeability. there is increased stickiness in the eye, but it took me from a 6 hour wear time to on average a 18 hour weartime.... and the RGP doesn't pop out like it used to...
it is more of a hassle getting them in, but the comfort during the day more than makes up for it.... and i am now very quick at getting them in and out...

there are a lot of people who tried and didn't like, and some who will say it is and 'old technology' solution.... but maybe worth asking about at your appointment

First of all, if you come out of an RGP and into a soft lens, the corneal shape can change and fluctuate for a while, which might account for some of the ghosting. Also, if it was six months ago, you may not have been fitted with the newer KeraSoft IC which has much more fitting options than the previous KeraSoft 3. I do find I can get clear vision with the IC lens for most kind of corneas.

It might be worth trying the IC before you look at surgical options. Piggy backing is another option but some people (not all) who are intolerant to RGPs also do develop issues with piggybacking as well.

I have now been trying piggybacking for a week now, and I must say the imrovement in comfort is really good.

I do have occasions where the RGP gets a bit mucky, but some eye drops seems to help flush it out.

Glad I finally got a satisfactory result! Wish I had tried it years ago.

hi brian, i am glad the piggy backing is working for you.... i also use quite a lot of those single use eye drops.
just remember to keep the lenses very clean- i use a solution with protein remover in it, and clean both lenses with mirraflow...
evey 6 months or so the RGP gets totallly mucky and it doesn't matter how much i rub it just mists up again- i then take it to my local optom (not even my KC specialist optom) who 'polishes' it. he says that over 6 months you get fine scratches which catch the muck... he does it for free and it takes about 10 minutes....
good luck!
