Sore Eyelid

Postby Anna Mason » Sun 21 Jun 2009 10:10 pm

I received my repolished Scleral lens in the post a week ago and have had problems since wearing it with the saline going murky all the time.
The last 3 days I have had to remove due to some irritation not sore just 'grumpy'.

When I looked in the mirror and pulled my bottom lid down there was a bright red patch on the inside of the lid with a little bump like a small pimple so it wasnt the lens it was my eyelid that was causing irritation. Does anyone now what this could be its a bit itchy and a bit sticky is all.

Also if you know what it is and its bad news please dont tell me as my ability to cope with stuff is currently at a low ebb.

Anna

I did have something similar to what you describe: my ophthalmologist put me on a systemic antibiotic for about 3 months, but at the end of that time I was fine and I have had no relapse.

In your place I'd stop wearing my lens and go to the ophthalmology clinic.

All the best

Andrew

I am doing the leaving lens out bit but I hope I dont have to go 3 months without it. I have a 5 year old 17hh Irish Sport Horse who would be very dodgy if I dont ride hime every day and I need to drive to the yard. Interestingly I have a little white spot in it now and I have had mouth ulcers the last few days.

I wasn't three months without my lens, in fact I started to wear it again as soon as I started the antibiotics. I just left it out until my eye had been seen!

Just got off the phone to Opthy wotsits and the general consensus is it a Hay Fever thing so I can cope with that as I am getting Hay Fever and when my eye was itchy the other night I did rub it. Dont shout at me I know I shouldnt if it makes everyone feel any better I spent last night watching the telly one eyed and wearing big thick winter gloves so I wouldnt forget and rub or scratch it.

Both my husband and I made the same switch earlier this year and have found the ceterizine to be more effective. I guess your body just gets used to the active ingrediant and it becomes less effective. I expect we will be changing again next year.
