Is corneal ectasia the same as KTC?
My son Ben was diagnosed as having KTC and was told he needed a transplant. I have had a letter back from his consultant saying that he diagnosed Ben as having 'corneal ectasia', no mention of KTC. Is this the same as KTC?

Ectasia is a bulging of the corneal. Ectasia is also called iatrogenic keratoconus or secondary keratoconus because it is basically a surgically induced version of the naturally occurring disease keratoconus ...

In your place, I'd contact the hospital to ask why they have described his condition as "Ectasia" and not "Keratoconus". (or I'd get my GP to do that for me!)
