Just to let you know myself and many others have received a spam private message.

Important to read! - this is just a link to a web site I don't think anyone of us needs to visit.

Please ignore any PM's from profilicus; this matter is being dealt with.

Thanks

Gareth

I've not been here for a long time- the lack of/slow progress is so disappointing and depressing (I've left a message about the Manchester KC group)

My visit has been prompted by receipt of the e mail with that pm message. I sent a pm message to John Smith about as i thought John was site admin, but the message is still in my outbox.

BTW the link is for sales of viagara so it was not welcome as I dont need it :D  (I mean viagara!)

Hope the person responsible for these pms is dealt with.

Best wishes

Same ehre.
I've not been on the board for quite a while. I received the e-mail and decided to check it all out
When I opened the link within the PM my internet security said it was a bad place and wouldn't let me go there.

Can I suggest to mods/admin this be stickied or pinned to the top
Perhaps an announcement or similar to prevent anyone getting a virus or similar

cheers

What am I missing........ not!
Steven, you're right: John SMith is admin. But I think he's on his honeymoon right now, so probably got plenty other things to worry about than spam! And I'm sure he won't be needing the advertised merchandise either.....!

This does create a problem for us. I have removed the poster in question, but cannot remove the pm's with which (s)he has littered our system.

Also, when spammers post to open forums we can pick them up immediately and remove their posts; as I did not receive this PM, I had no knowledge of it until I was contacted by one of the recipients.

Life is confusing.

Steven, good to see you back.

Andrew

Ahh interesting Andrew!

I assumed from all the above that the spammer had selected all members and executed a mass spam. So is there anyone else who did NOT get one?

(I did!)

I understand such "spammers" are inevitable on open forums such as this. Hopefully nobody would have been offended by the mailing and other than the waste of a few minutes of our time no harm is done.
Of course such events are rare and we certainly all gain a lot from this site so please dont let it put anyone off from posting or maintaining their membership.
