Checks post-graft:
I'll echo what others have said, in what they are looking for; also that assuming all is going reasonably well, they get less frequent.
Most of the checks are visual inspections down a slit lamp. The corenal specialists are looking to see that he grafted piece is "clear" ie. not turning milky or getting misty milky patches, which might be a rejection, and "quiet2 ie. not inflamed and swollen.
SOmetimes I've had my eyelid turned inside out.
They also check your eye pressure regularly. SInce I've developed regularly too high eye pressure, I've now been referred to the glaucoma clinic for regular checks there and it is now them who do the pressure testing and look at the optic disk part of my retina - this is again on a slit lamp and using a big glass-egg looking lens, which turns the slit lamp light into a intense vertical needle of light which 9for me) hurts like hell. I presue if they find anything that looks amiss they will do extra things, but fortunately so far I haven't foudn out what!
Once, I said my vision was getting fuzzier and was I growing a cataract and he looked down his slit lamp again, and must have "shifted focus" from cornea to lens, and said no, it was fine. I don't know if they do that every time and don't tell me if all is OK.
Once the graft has settled enough to be fitted with a contact lens on top of it, then your're back into all the things that contct lens fitters do.

Thank you Rosemary, Andrew and Gareth, for your replies and maturity

Rosemary, thanks a lot for for all the info. I very much liked your straightforward message:

The reason I thought that was a good area you covered was because, a picture can look good, but there are serious tests need to be done for serious reasons. So this is my serious questions: aren't Endo cells counted ? corneal thickness tested ? how stronger your cornea ? all done at each check up, to check on your progress ?

In my list, I'd have thought that the issues you raise were covered in number two.

to be honest, I don't know exactly everything they look at - and can see - down their slit lamps. Maybe they can see how strong and healthy the endothelial cell layer looks just by peering down a slit lamp at it.
The only test I really know about is the IOP (intra-ocular pressure) because that is the one that has been a problem for me.
They haven't sent me for any tests other than being looking at through a slit lamp and the IOP tests.
Apart from the eye tests (how much of the chart can I read) that is.
I don't know whether this means they can see lots of things and they look fine, or that the bits that look bad aren't let bad enough to worry me about. Or, the bits that look not too good are not anything that anything can be done about other than wait and see, so they aren't worrying me about them.

Thanks Andrew (i was not saying nothing there on your reply earlier) Thanks again Rosemary, believe it or not, you have answered my questions on "have you ever wondered", I was not sure that's why I asked, and the replies was varying, but your reply "spoke to me" as it was straight forward, the varying other replies to me says that it was right to ask these questions. I looked back at my posts and can not see where it was not clear enough. I tried to keep them brief (I find it very tough typing due to my KC) and as concise as possible to save time in typing them and for anyone who may want to read what I have written, however that may have been where It fell short, it was not made better by the topic wondering off here and there and i'm not as paranoid or tiny bit bothered about it. I am more interested about the topic, but i because I am not able to find out about my eye condition, I will stay away from that here to make others happy.

By the way, I have had those tests I mentioned earlier done because I wear medical contact lenses apparently, I would like to say that the tests are quite quick to do and not painful or anything. It does bring great peace of mind if (and its a big if) things are uneventful, luckily enough it has been, (and i guess it just may be luck mostly, just may be, I do not know)

Hello Justbrowsing.

Actually, I think you are mistaken; "Yes" has not been 'chased out', neither has he or she left the forum. We did say, and rightly, that belligerent posts were unacceptable, and "Yes" agreed and apologized.

All the best

Andrew
