prescription wrap around sunglasses

Does anyone know who makes wrap around sunglasses for astigmatism? I've tried a couple of opticians but they didn't have anything in stock that went up to my cyl (-4.25), and websites don't seem to have that kind of information. I don't mind if the vision's a bit odd at the sides as it's odd anyway when wearing glasses, they just need to keep the sun out.

thanks, Paula

The best I have found is to wear my contact lenses and wear tinted wrapround safety glasses. I wear them all the time and I have had many enquiries about where people with and without KC and get them.

The RNIB sell wrap around 'light excluders'.

They are not for the fashion conscious, but they do the job.

Hello Paula,

One bunch you could try is:

This is the US site.

http://www.esseyepro.com/Military-and-L ... egory.html

The UK retailer's site is

http://www.epsgoggles.com/products/view ... .php?cat=5

They're very good at keeping the sun out, use them quite a lot for driving, haven't needed the lens inserts as normal sort of glass lenses won't do the job anymore for my eyes, that said though my contacts are really comfortable for the most part. Anyhow they can fit corrective lenses up to +/-11.

They're also ballistic resistant and can apparently survive a shotgun blast from 10 metres, though hopefully you won't have to put this claim to the test  that said however they are life savers on windy days and when I go up to London or similar places.

I've had mine 18 months now and they're still going strong, parts haven't come loose at all yet, may need to replace the frame parts sometime this year but that'll be easy enough if necessary.

Hope you find something that works for you

Getting back peripheral vision would be good to archive with these glasses, which the edge of the frame blocks with normal prescription glasses
