Hey Guys
Just thought Id let those of you know of some new lenses that are out that cater for the moderate to advanced KC that allegedly provide sharper vision for those in this position
I have been using a Scleral on and off for 3 years now in left eye, but KC has gotten a little worse...so took a trip to Moorefields today.....seems there not as up to date with emerging technology in lenses as the eager sufferers.......understandable I guess as I am sure they need to pass certain lenses for use etc.
Anyhow, some lenses by the name of Rose K 2 are around. They have been available in USA fora while and also in UK for a short period.....
I asked my optician to order these in to give them a go. Having tried another over-refraction on my existing scleral and also the Intra-Limbal (like corneal but bigger lenses) I cant get acceptable vision........6/12 6/18.
Here is a link for those interested

they also have the soft Comfort 02 and a few other lenses. If you have a good lens fitter who doesnt mind getting a fitting set in there def worth a go.

Hello there!
Jayuk
Hi there! Yes i have heard of these from the states and apparently they are doing really well. As you know i am waiting myself for sclerals, so wont be asking for these hopefully for some time depending on how they go!! I am very optimistic from when i tried them and got much better sight and comfort so i will see!
I hope that these new lenses will be good for you! As you are at Moorfields as well, how long does it take after the lenses have been made to get a fitting, as i am just waiting for mine to be ready before i can book an appt.
Also founf a local optician today which stocks Systane eyedrops so i am hoping. Have put some in and have put my lens in for the first time in four days, am hoping it will be better. Hehe ... i bought two bottles just in case!!!
Well you never know when i can get back there, and it never hurts to have more!!
Good luck and keep us updated! Its always good to hear of new lenses and some support.

Hi
Yes Im lookin forward to these newer updated ones. I tried the Rose K's for a bit, but then swicthed over but there are some technical changes in these newer ones which help the more Moderate and Advanced cases.
In terms of getting lenses
sclerals : From experience at Moorefields it takes between 3 and 6 weeks for a lens from the time you have had the preliminary fitting...the shortest I waited was 9 days the longest I waited has been 8 weeks.....but on the whole over the 3 odd year period its gen been between 3 and 6 weeks
Hope that helps
