Asking for a check...

I had my eye mapped - I think that is the best word to describe it more than four years ago. I've had contacts and I have gradually been uping the strength of the left one. My concern is that I'd like to know if the level of distortion is getting worse and by what level. How do I ask for my eye to be rechecked - at the moment I see a fantastic guy at my hospital's eye clinic but I've only seen my consultant once - 4 years ago! Any advice gratefully recieved.

Errrrm ..... I'd suggest you ask the nice guy you see at the hospital.
He may be able to tell you how your eye is changing - in ordinary language, without the specialist test - or may be able to refer you back to see the consultant again.
By "mapped", is this the machine where you peer down the eyepiece at a set of coloured concentric rings, and then the computer makes a display rather like the diagrams of the hole inthe ozone layer?

That is the machine. I had to stare at a house in the distance...I remember because the machine couldn't map out the level of distortion first time around!

Well I had my appointment today and my eyes are not producing enough tears to make the lenses comfortable so despite earlier attempts to open up the tear ducts I am now going to use a lint with a solution already in it to see if this works. I am also trying kerasoft 3 lenses and having done a quick google and search on this forum I am hoping it will do the job. As for mapping etc he said they only really use it diagnose - not to check. He also said the intac ops have ended at Sheffield because they were not getting the results. Anyway Kerasofts in a weeks time.
