Advice!!

Hi

I have recently been fitted with mini scleral lenses which so far seem to be working out well... apart from the fact it takes me about half an hour to get them in. Does any one have any techniques to iserting them properley?? I feel as though by the time i get them in they are not in correctly as my vision seems to be different from day to day.

Also i seem to have loads of floaters today which are driving me mental!! Does any one else get these and can you do anything about them??

Here is my technique for inserting a full size scleral. I am afraid it may not work with the smaller lens.

Let's assume that hands are well washed and lens is clean. Fill lens with saline and hold between thumb and forefinger of right hand (or left if you are left-handed)

With the free hand raise the upper eyelid.

Looking straight down, bring saline filled lens to the eye, and slip under the upper eyelid.

Release upper lid and draw down the lower lid, sliding the lens under it.

Hi.
Are you in the UK somewhere that summer has suddenly arrived with a jump?
I always find floaters worse in summer when the sunlight is bright. It's as if they show up more against a bright world than in mid-winter when the owrld is grey and gloomy.
As for putting in sclerals - only ever tried a mini-scleral for about 3 minutes in clinic, but can't argue with Andrew's post.
I put mine in with the lens horizontal (hollow side up and full to brim with saline) over kitchen sink, with my face pinting down towards base of sink, and "looking down"meaning perring in direction of collar bone with face still flat over sink.
One tip is to fill the thing to the brim.
ANother might be to make sure the upper lid is "loose" and lens goes well under it, so you don't end up having to drag the lower lid and its lashes a long way out from under the lower part of the lens.
If you see waht I mean.
