Stopped in to whine about the pain...

I wish had stopped by to tell about a new car, or winning the lottery.....but, i'm here today to complain about the intense (WOW!!!) surface pain many days when I wear my RGPs.

Sadly, there is no way to work without my lenses in, and also no way I can work when the PAIN (!!!) takes over. It gets so bad my eyes not only weep, but my nose runs and my sinuses drain.....

I am not sure what gets into them. This pain can occur when i am driving, or shopping, or working or sitting watching TV.....Inside or outdoors, seems to make no difference. I have thought it may be pollen and hopefully this will pass when everything is finally budded and bloomed.

Does anyone else have these dreadful attacks of surface pain? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Cheers, (sitting home with no contacts in) Piper

Sorry about that Piper. I used to get that quite a bit on my right eye (which has now been grafted). however i don't think it is acceptable and you should have it looked at again. Piggybacks helped me a lot.

Could it be that you are getting dust in your eye beside the rgp lens? This was a frequent problem for me and was the worst pain I ever experienced with rgp lenses.

Have you ever tried Haptic lenses (sometimes called 'scleral lenses') These fit over the cornea but rest on the white of the eye (sclera). I found that mine prevented the pain problem associated with dust.

All the best, my friend. It is good to see you again.
