Feeling a bit sorry for myself

Hi Guys

Had to see my Optometrist today have the sorest eye, on Friday I grazed it when I put my scleral in, left the lens out all weekend, had the most hideous photophobia, it felt a little better this morning so I popped the lens in and went to work.

Half way through the day I was in so much pain I couldnt open my eye to get the lens out so I forced my eyelids open and popped the lens out and got an emergency appointment.

Well I have done a real job on my eye, I have sliced off a chunk of cornea, my Optometrist couldnt believe how big and deep the abrasion is. I have now got a bandage lens in and antibiotic drops every 2 hours and strict intructions to go to the emergency room if it feels worse. I have a follow up check up in the morning and I think I will go on the train as it scares me to drive into the city in peak hour traffic with one eye.

Im kicking myself for doing so much damage just because I misjudged putting my lens in.

I am so sorry that you have run into such trouble. I hope that your eye heals quickly, but even when it feels much better, leave the lens out for a bit before starting to build up your wear time again.

All the blest

Andrew

Every sympathy for you...

I too was sitting here feeling a bit sorry for myself.

My situation not as bad as yours.

I am an ungrafted wearer of RGP hybrids...I have been struggling for the last few days with a painful left eye (that's my worse one) and am sitting here at work with an hour to go today feeling very sorry for myself.

My eye(s) was really sore today, I think I have simply overdone the lens wearing of late and will just have to give myself a rest. I've taken the lenses out now and am squinting through my old specs at the screen and willing the time away so I can go home and rest.

I thought my situation was poor, but you seem to hav me beat by a little bit.

I hope it all goes well for you..take it easy.

Paul :(

Sorry girlypants. I hope your checkup went well. i agree with Andrew. Be careful not to be impatient and put the lens back too soon. rather safe than sorry.

Hi Guys

Thanks so much for your kind posts, I am feeling a lot better today. I have had my check up and much of the redness has gone from the eye and my Opt. says that its healing beautifully. I have to go back on Thursday so no lens wear until at least then, luckily its the long weekend so I think I will leave it out until I return to work on Tuesday. My boss sent me home yesterday I think he was sick of looking at my miserable face  so im going to take the rest of the week off, I find it really hard to work and drive "one eyed" anyway.

The eye is still sore, and feels irritated now that the bandage lens has come out, but I have to use lubricant drops every hour and antibiotics 4 times a day.

Paul, I hope your eye is feeling better, nothing worse than being at work miserable and in pain.

Cheers
Dawn

Hi Dawn.

Gave my eye a decent 24 rest and all feels much better now.

Lens back in now and will take it out earlier than usual tonight.

Only downside to things is that I'm back at work now :(

Hope you do well.

Paul
