Ferrara Rings

Postby albionleon » Mon 07 Mar 2005 1:10 pm

I had a transplant in my left eye in Sept 03, which has been a fantastic success, no issues at all, in fact I still have the 12 stitches and they seem very happy to leave them in, to say that it has changed my life is and understatement, I can see so well, although have become slightly long sighted and givent that I was technically short sighted before the op is a bit mad. I have been extremly fortunate to have Mr Daya as my consultant, at the Queen Victoria hospital in East Grinsted.
Anyway to the matter in hand, I am very close to needing a transplant in the right eye, but have agreed to go for the Ferrara Ring option first, has anyone undergone this technique yet, I know that there are limited numbers but any detail would be appreciated and I will of course share my experience, just for reference my op is on 18/05/2005 - should anyone wish to send me gifts holidays to get over another eye op experience - only kidding. I have to admit I am more apprehensive about the Ferrara ring than the transplant.

Hi, It seems that I am in a similar ish situation. Had my right eye grafted in december and it has been really quite sucessful, I have vision and before I didnt! But my left eye is now getting to the point of not tolerating lenses etc. and a tentative suggestion has been made about intacts..i think this is very similar to the rings and i too am looking for some advice or wonderign if anyone has had the operation?

Sorry I cant give any advice myself..I will attmept to look into it a bit more closely do some internet seraching when i have some time and when my eyes are behaving better than they are at the moment. But I am seeign my consultant next tuesday so any hints on things to ask before then would be really very helpful

Thanks
Soph :D

If you can, I think your better off with Ferra Rings (FR) for your KC as its been designed for KC and works better than Itacs for KC

Here is a UK Link to FR,
