Hi, my wife had two grafts done at moorfields one 1968 and the other 1969 by Mr Ainsley. The left eye graft failed in 2000 and the right eye is nearly gone now, she is very light sensitive and suffers with a lot of pain from her eyes. We are having problems with the hospital recognising her problems and last time we were there for four and a half hours she is now almost pathelogical in her loathing of having her eyes exaimined, drops put in with no warning instruments and lights shone in with no consideration for her. Is there any one else out there who has these grafts from that time and what is there experiance ? We are told that there is only a 5 % chance of new grafts succeeding and with my wife's feelings and fear of having any more operations there seems little point in her going through that.

I don't know if we have anyone with grafts from the 60s, but there are some members with 70s grafts (though I don't know how many of them look at this forum or post here). And we do have some members who have had successful regrafts 25 or 30 years after their original graft, so I'm surprised by the very low figure for success in regrafts that you've been quoted. I read this post and i am shocked.These grafts lasted for 30 years and now as you had been told nothing can be done.If you are comfortable please inform us because this is a big matter.

For example,if someone perform a graft and this last 20 or 30 years and the time that had performed the graft was about 28-30 years old this means that when reaches i say 60 years old what will do??This is a big question.To an another graft is giving like 5% as you said so what are the options?

As i said before everybody should think long term about performing grafts.Nature isnt stupid for providing durable lifetime corneas to all people.I know that back then nothing else could have happened but wright now we got our treatment.
