Dry Eyes / Air-conditioning and Humidity level at work..

Has anyone any experience with humidifies?

We have just moved into a new building and my life is hell. The air is so dry, everyone is complaining of sore eyes and dry, cracked skin. Wearing my RPG is intolerable and I'm managing every 2nd day with the Scleral.

The facilities department, who seem rather inept and are saying there is nothing they can do, so I've decided to buy a humidifier.

It needs to be fairly small and quiet. I work at a desk in an open plan office about 7m * 14m with about 30 people in it.

Has anyone had a similar experience, did purchasing a humidifier help? What brand/type did you purchase?

Hi Philip,

One of the other sites to where I work caused dry eyes to the people who moved in and they used eye drops to help keep their eyes moist. It took them a couple of months to get used to it.

The tite I am on is usually about 17 - 35 % relative hunidity and I find it is dependant on how vigerous the air conditioning is. In shops, it is intolerable. At my desk I am OK, but in the laboratory I am limited to about 2 hours work as the air flow is higher.

Most people here recomend the Minims eye drops and some get these on prescription.

My humidifier my inlaws have blows out humidified air so if you try this, you might have to aim at you. Do not know what problems you might find with the air flow. It might be worth looking at how close you are to an airconditioning unit. I used to sit in line with one of the outlets, now I am between the two and that has cured the problem.
