Hehe, this made me chuckle

Postby Eddie S » Wed 05 Sep 2007 6:54 am

Hi all,

Bit of KC light relief.

As some of you know I am currently on the NHS waiting list for intacs in my right eye. Between now and the operation I am confined to just wearing the lens in my left eye to ensure the right is happy (no contact lens issues) in time for the op.

My specialist suggested that he would likely see me this year so after seeing him last in early July yesterday I phoned the waiting list department to see if there was any kind of suggested date.

"Ahh yes, you are on the list but we can't tell you a date yet as we are currently waiting for parts.."

Now, I've heard that from my garage, but not from the hospital. I'm guessing the parts are the implants.

Hehe, made me laugh anyway. Still no closer to a date though. I'm not impatient, just want to know when so I can plan (and get back to seeing through two eyes!).

Eddie, you shouldn't be such an expensive model! :D Then it would be easier to get the parts. I'm sure I've got a plastic washer in my shed, shall I send it? :D

Matthew,

Is it a clear see through one? We may have a deal :)

The "parts" may be for the equipment they need to put the implants into your eye, but the image of somebody standing at the operating theatre door with an oily rag in his hand and a cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth is really quite appealing!

[Sharp intake of breath], "Sorry mate, but this is going to take some time. It's a specialist job, see, and we have to order parts from the manufacturer in Kazekstan. We always have these problems with Skolada eyes".

Just so long as they are not made in China - they may be subject to a recall at a later date :D

I don't know about that: the Skolada is a rare model. Not many were made, and most of them have been cannibalized to keep the others on the road.
