Sunglasses, clear glasses

Hi

Im having my graft in a few weeks (i've posted quite a few times recently in anticipation) and im just thinking about preparing for it by purchasing some sun glasses. I've never been able to wear any form of glasses before since i only have KC in one eye, and when i wear them i think my bad eye tends to focus on the frame of the glasses, resulting in eye strain and headache.

My question is, am i likely to be very sensitive to light after the operation? Im just wondering weather to actually buy a pair with dark or lighter lenses so that i can use them indoors?

Also, does anyone know if its possible to get glasses with just clear lenses in them, and i f so the best place to get them? Im thinking of picking some up so that i dont knock my eye accidently since i work in a university with lots of students flailing their arms around.

Any other reccomendations are welcome?

You may bvery well be sensitive to light after your surgery. I wear a pair of sunglasses that were designed for skiing.

When I wear my ordinary glasses they have one lens with optical power and the other as a 'balance lens'. there is absolutely no optical power in the balance lens; I get this from my local optician. I am not sure that I am allowed to tell you their name, but as I'm in Scotland that would probably not be much use to you

You may be better off with a clear eye shield as glasses do not offer much prtection from flailing arms, they just get whipped off your head and things still get you in the face.

It would over come the problem you have found of focussing on the glasses frame as you should not see an edge.

If needs be, sunglasses can still be worn over the top for when you are out and about in the sun.

Thanks for the reply. i shall look into eye shields and glasses with a balance lens- its good to know what to call it. I quite like the idea of ski goggles, but perhaps not when im in front of the students at uni... Perhaps i can get hold of one of those old copper divers helmets to stop the flailing arms
