New forum software

Postby John Smith » Tue 24 Jul 2007 7:41 pm

It's time for another change.

The new version of the forum software (with more expandability and many more facilities) is almost ready.

I've almost finished customising it to our colour scheme and making the fonts legible to keratoconics!

So please be patient when the forum is down for maintenance this week, I may do another trial upgrade or two, and then there's the final one. Each upgrade will cause the current forum to be offline for about an hour or two.

The new forum is an evolution from the existing one, but there is an element of revolution, too... but I'm sure you'll soon find your way around.

There will be some posts in the "Help and Advice" forum discussing the new features; watch out for them there.

One thing is certain though, your exising user name and password will not change, though you will be asked to log in again on your first visit.

More news when it comes.

Whick woo....

Are we talking about phpbb 3.0????

If so I like it, and have been running it on a forum I host for a friend since RC2 was released.

There are one or two little niggles though....such as links not opening in new windows and url's being truncated, but I could give you the work around for these.

Yes indeed! We are now finally running phpBB3.

Can we have any discussion relating to the new software in the "Help and Advice" forum please?

What do you think of the changes? What would you like to see further?
John

G'day John and others,

It's been a long long time since I was last here (last post was Dec 06 for me)
I have to say the new look of the site is bloody great. Like the font size and like the colours.

I think an improvement might be to make the font in the "writing your post" part a size or 2 bigger, say 14 or 16 so it matches the font size in the "reading" part. (really hope that makes sence to someone). This might help those with slightly poorer VA perhaps.

Just a thought

John

What I was asking was - is there a link to the main site from the discussion board because if there is I can 't find it!

I forgive youImageImage

Just another little, tiny, minor, slightly inconsequential thing, in the "Vision" drop down box in UCP there's the option for "I wear INTACS" - I don't 'wear' INTACS, they are implanted
