Anyone know of the best vitamins which could help with my Keratoconus anyone tried that visionace

I read flaxseed oil and lutein can be good for eyes and KC, tried them for awhile. Flaxseed oil made me feel ill! not sure about the lutein, may be worth a try!

have taken lutein , eyebright and bilberry for years My consultant says they do nothing nut I find they help me stop eye rubbing. Eventually he conceded they perhaps help with the general health of my eye.

Yes I take bilberry and grapeseed tablets, plus drink plenty of non contaminated re:fluoridated water.

VisionAce is designed to help with macular degeneration as lutein (which it contains) has been proven scientifically to be of assistance in that area.
There have been no studies I am aware of (and please let me know if there are any!) that show that vitamins help KC per se.
However, it is always good to have a balanced diet and the recommended daily dose of vitamins. It is worth remembering though that overdosing with certain vitamins can actually be harmful to your liver. Taking vitamins is really only helpful if you have a deficit - if you take a lot more than your body needs, it simply excretes them.

It would be interesting to read the KC information exchanged in the professionals
forum but KCers seem to be excluded from that privilege Lynn.
As your a qualified professional in eyecare I'd be interested to receive your views/opinions on whether or not overdosing on contact lens wear increases the risk of the KC progressing (on a relevant new thread as I dont wish to hijack this thread).

Well actually Stephen not much is going on in the professionals forum as yet! I think it will be a while before people are comfortable coming there to talk, as there is not actually much history of professionals talking on forums - optometrists particularly tend to be isolated from one another because optometry has grown up in an atmosphere of business competition rather than in medical co-operation. Thats what the professional forum is attempting to break down.
As for the rest of your post, nothing is stopping you starting a topic Stephen! I, however, do not see my role here as sounding off my opinions. I am here to lend support and help and give advice. All I will say on the subject here is that ANY over wear by ANY patient can be detrimental in many ways and is not to be recommended!
