is there a link between long sighted and KC??
im long sighted too.
i took my 4 yr old for an eye test today and her right eye is extremely long sighted, he left is virtually dormant, she has very little sight through it, my family really dont seem to be having it gud with eyes do they?
as my son was diagnosed with KC last month and they said hes long sighted i wondered whether its linked or common in some way.
If its a stupid question just tell me to bog off, i wont be offended ill just never speak to ya again

Cherishu,

To the best of my knowledge there is no link.

Before KC was diagnosed, my vision was fine. After the graft in my right eye the doc was surprised to find I was left long sighted depsite the shape of the cornea 12 months post graft being near perfect!

Post graft in left eye and I was left slightly short sighted.

Rest of my familliy have been short sighted and get regular eye checks and now ask about KC and none of them have it.

I hope your daughters vision can be corrected with glasses and that is how it will stay.

I was given glasses just over a year ago because I had become short sighted and was also told I had slight astigmatism, Dec last year my vision rapidly deteriorated and I was told I now have KC.
My son is 11yrs and is long sighted.

Have heard it said that many children go through a stage of being long-sighted, just as their eyes grow and develop.
One eye not pulling its weight doesn't sound too encouraging, thouggh.
Hope all is well with him.
