Hi, my name is Jon House and I was diagnosed
a couple of months back. I've been to my first optometrist appointment today to trial soft lenses which unfortunately didn't work so I'll be going back in a couple of weeks to try RGP's and at the moment I'm finding it all a bit frustrating, but at the same time appreciate that at least the ball is rolling. When diagnosed I searched for every bit of info I could lay my hands on and it was then I came across this site and joined the group. I would just like to say a big thanks to everybody for all the info on here which has been great so far and I'm sure I'll be referring back on a regular basis for what I'm sure is going to be a long and eventful journey.

Jon,
Welcome to the forum.
I see you are in the West Midlands, have you signed up to the main group to get snail mail invites to the regioanl meetings?
My preperations for the launch of mens health week last monday meant I could not make the prevous weeks group meeting.
Hope the RGP fittng goes well.

Hi Gareth,
I received an invite to the last Birmingham meeting but as I've only recently joined the group I already had plans. However I'm hoping to make future meetings and hook up with fellow members as I've yet to meet anybody who has even heard of the condition, much less understand what is involved.

Hi from another Midlander. I'm at the other end of the whole experience so if I can give you any advice or support, just let me know. I found it an incredibly lonely journey because I was too useless to find this site earlier so you've already made a better start to coping with the whole experience than I did. Good luck.

Thanks Hermione. I'm sure I'll need all the advice and support I can get as time goes by!

I have only just got my rgps ,I was dreading them tbh but now I love them! I was diagnosed around 7 months ago now and the KC rapidly progressed in my left eye and is now rapidly progressing in my right eye. But I am able to wear my lenses nearly all the time so dont have to manage the poor vision much

John,
Welcome. It can be very frustrating getting your lenses as it takes time and then you have to get used to them. But when you get your eye-sight back, woah!

Its well worth the wait.
All the best
