Just saying Hello

Postby Ste_Russ » Sun 17 Jun 2007 7:41 pm

Hello all

Ive been reading the site for a while and decided to join in

I've had KC for 12 years now and have generally just put up and shut up  .

Over last few months Ive noticed my sight in my left eye has been getting very bad (right eye mild).

I decided to download and print the snellen chart . I placed it on a biege coloured wall and stood 3m away.To my shock the actual chart blended in with wall and I could'nt make out anything ..oops

I was discharged from my local hospital 8 yrs ago as at the time there was nothing they could do

I am unable to wear any lenses due to allergies my eyes constantly water and they tried soft and hard

I have a new appointment at the hospital Renee ward , st Helens on the 08/06/07

Any advice would be welcome

many thanks

Stephen

Steven,

Hello there and welcome to the site! I am glad that you have decided to join in, we are very friendly and supportive of each other :)

I am sorry to read about your eye problems. Is your appointment in August? Sorry I think I have reread the date difference! I really hope that they can work something out for you. It must be really difficult for you if you can't wear lenses? Has anyone mentioned surgery at all?

Hoping to hear from you soon! Take care, love Sweet X x X

Steven,

Were they talking about a corneal graft? People have had this done at many ages, I was 28 when I had mine done. Hoping they can find something for you.

hey stephen, both my eye's haven't been able to see anything on the snellen chart. I've had 2 transplants and now i see 20/20 in both eye's so there is light at the end of the tunnel if you go down the surgery route. Before you go too your appointment tho do some research so when you go you have questions ready too ask them, there's a lot that can be done for keratoconus now. Hope it go's well and you get what you want out of it.
tom
