He was very nice and explained all about KC, told me about this website and answered all my questions. He is also my boss's neighbour!
He did lots of tests and said I have moderate KC, one of the tests involved turning my eye lids inside out so he could examine them! Not pleasant.
then he put lenses in, he put anasthetic drops in first so it wouldnt hurt me, then inserted the lens. He put drops in that would show if it was a good fit etc then asked me to sit in the waiting room for a while to see how I felt and to let the drops wear off, he said that if I felt any pain I was to bang on his door and he would remove them straightaway.
I sat and read a magazine without holding it to my nose! Everything looked very clear and bright. Even the freckles on my hand! I sat there for ages, the lens felt strange, I could feel it moving when I blinked I could feel it under my eye lid, but it was not painful. All double vision and halos vanished! I was gutted when he took them out.
Then he did an eye test to determine the strength I needed, and said I would get them in a weeks time.
Then he will show me how to insert and remove them, and how to clean them.
he did stress that even if I get good results I have to slowly build up wear time and he checked my eyes to make sure the lens hadnt rubbed my eye while I was reading. He said they are a good fit and that my response to them was good.
Before I went in I had another panic
attack
I ended up in Boots buying some water and some rescue remedy to try and calm down. But I think that now I have had the hospital visit and the first lens fitting I am not as worried, my vision was so good I cant wait! Before he inserted the lens I could only just see the top letter of the Snellen chart! Afterwards I could see 5 rows down.
