Hi
My eyes are very sore at the moment with light sensitivity. Is there anything I can do to help i.e drops etc as my eyes just seem to run all day long!
Thanks
Emma

Hi Emma
Welcome to the forum.
Yes.....There is something you should be doing.
Straight down to A & E or to your own eye hospital to find out quickly what is causing this sensitivity.. They will then advise of you of your course of action and if need be prescribe exactly what you need after an examination and then no mistakes can be made by guessing.
Take someone with you to help you.
post back soon and let us know whats happened.
very best wishes to you
Mike

Emma,
Only to add that I agree 100% with Mike's comments. Light sensitivity and soreness = not good!
Hope you get it sorted out soon. Come back and let us know how you get on.

Somebody complimented me on my driving yesterday - they left a note on my windscreen "Parking Fine" which was nice.
KC managed with softperm lens in left eye, Intacs (2/11/07) in right eye

No argument from me about the above!
Light sensitivity, sometimes called "photo-phobia" is a common symptom of keratoconus. the problem with our eyes is that the distortion of the cornea tends to scatter light inside the eye and this causes pain; often severe pain.
Do you wear contact lenses?
Let us know how you get on at the emergency clinic. You can wear heavy duty sunglasses to protect your eyes on the way to the clinic! I am pretty sure that there is an eye emergency clinic at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
All the best, and welcome to the forum.

hi, thanks for your replies. i do wear RGP lenses. I have recently put my old lenses in which I keep as a spare and this has stopped the soreness and my eyes are a lot more comfortable. I do need to wear sunglasses a lot of the time though. Could there have been a problem with my other lenses?
thanks again
Emma

Emma,
If light sensitivity is only when wearing your 'proper' lenses and not the old one then yes so even more important to get down to the hospital WEARING the PROPER lenses, this way they can see what the problem is.
It is possible there is damage to the proper lenses and this is irritating the cornea so making you light sensitive.
Infection can make us light sensitive and if this is the case the infection will now have been spread to the old lenses.
My recomendation to anyone who suddenly has eye discomfort with or without lenses is to go straight down to A&E and play it safe. Never wear the old lenses until you know what the probem is.
