graft update

Postby nicola jayne » Mon 30 Apr 2007 11:37 pm

hi all
i havent posted much but have been reading when i can LOL hope everyone is ok.
Had eye clinic today am now 5 months post graft, and the consultant trimmed the end of the suture(the knot ) as it was poking out and irritating a lot so a little sore after that. also on the other side of the eye he said that he thinks it is starting to reject but only on the one side ?? i thought this was weird because i presumed that the whole thing would reject not just one bit :? . anyway he upped my drops maxidex to 4 times a day and i have to go back next wednesdayto see how things are. so all very exciting
still not legal to drive and thats still annoying me but nvm

Hi Nicola

Sorry to hear about the possible rejection but it can start on one side and spread. Sounds like you have caught it early so a good chance of reversing it. Most people I hear that have a rejection episode have just the one and then all is well.

Let us know how you get on.
Gareth

Nicola

A sl;ight rejection? I am sorry to hear about this, but the increased dose of steroid drops may overcome this setback for you.

All the best

Andrew

Hi Nicola,

Speaking as a (rare) veteran of nine rejection episodes I will stick my neck on the block with this one...

I'm sure that your rejection was indeed caught early, before the whole cornea had "caught the bug" as it were. In all of my cases, increased steroids calmed the rejection down: if four drops a day don't do it, I'm sure hourly drops will!

Best of luck with it, and do let us know how you get on.
John
