Relax, take it easy and if you have kids or go near them, wear your eye shield, wear eye shield at night for a couple of weeks.
Avoid strenuous activities like lifting and doing too much housework.
Follow good hygeine like you would have done with lenses and take your medication on time as prescribed.
Basically be careful and be sensible.

Try not to rub your eye, difficult I know.
Your eye will open easily over the next few days as the swelling starts to go down. Taking ibuprofen helps with the inflammation and pain
Look out for stickiness or a burning sensation in the eye as this could indicate an infection. This happened to me within a couple of days of my INTACS surgery.
Generally take it easy for a few days, if it feels uncomfortable then just stop what you are doing and rest.

Hi Shabana,
Glad to gear you're back home after the op.
I couldn't open my eye for any amount of time for about the first 10 days. It was always too sore but as the days passed I found it more comfortable.
Try to avoid bending for the first couple of weeks and as has been said no lifting, or certainly nothing heavy. I'm still not to lift things yet and I'm 5 weeks post graft.
Rest and give your eye time to heal. I spent much of my first week in a darkened room listening to an audio book.
I was very bored but it's amazing how quick time passes.
You may found you need to avoid bright lights, I certainly did so perhaps a good pair of sunglasses would be in order.
Apart from that just don't overdo things and listen to your body. If your eye aches then rest.
All the best.

i'm still not able to lift things, and im 4 months post graft

(well I try, but most people are bored with me now)
So my tip is to milk all the pampering you get for as long as you can!

Mike, good advice ! But, if I listen to my old, decrepit body it says, "ouch.....slower.....wait......darn, gotta bend over, and even worse, stand up again.......doggone it, there goes my knee again.......is it break time?........time for a restroom stop....".
.........give yourself a couple of more decades and you'll see what I mean!!

Get someone to peel you a grape, and then to peel another, and then a third, and then number four ... ... ... ...
Get a load of talking books and listen to the stories you had always meant to read as someone else reads them to you.
Listen to music you enjoy.
Take a walk in the frewh air; nothing too stenuous, just a gentle walk.
When you get home, get someone to peel you a grape ... ... ...
Well done.

Thankyou all for all the advice, hints and tips. I feel a little better today but still can't open my eye without it constantly leaking. I am taking full advantage of the pampering! Will keep you guys posted on my recovery, thanks again.
