Wonderful news Andrew - I hope that the stretching of the host tissue continues to work to your advantage!

Jay

Yes. both eyes working together give me 6/9.

I have never really understood why it is that both eyes, even if one of them is rather poor, give better sight than the better eye on its own.

With correction, my right eye on its own gives me 6/6.

I am really grateful to you all for sharing my excitement! My wife and I went out for a little celebratory dinner the other evening (Guys Restaurant in Candleriggs; very nice), and now I am waiting here for my telephone to ring, with the optician telling me that my glasses can be collected.

I have filled in the form for the DVLA. All I need to do now is add my driver number (I think I once saw this on my license), and then it can go into the post. I guess it will take the DVLA about six weeks to get round to opening my letter but soon after I should get word about the hoops they want me to jump through; and then I am back to driving.

I must say I have mixed feelings about driving again: it has been frustrating and inconvenient to need to depend on public transport or my wife to drive me around, but I have enjoyed the increased time I have spent with Alison as she has driven me hither and thither.

Anyhow; thanks again for sharing my excitement. Out of interest, the view acorss the Clyde this morning is glorious. The sun shines in a limpid blue sky and the hills and mountains are covered with snow.
