My Cornea Transplant + Progress updates.

After a brief discussion with Jay, he's recommended I keep news of my transplant and recovery on one easy to find thread. :D

So if it's alright with the powers to be I'll be making this my little home over the coming 12 months. 8)

Please feel free to pop in, settle back and share my journey. I can't promise a smooth ride but I hope my experience will be of some comfort to those who may find themselves in a similar position in times to come.

Current Status:
5 days until transplant.
Despite feeling a little disappointed that I have been unable to hold out until laser grafts become the norm, I'm rather excited that in under a week I'll be on the road to recovery. :D

This forum has been an invaluable source of information and support; I therefore hope that I will finally be able to give something back. :D

Thank you.

Good Luck Chris.

Where are you having your op done? is it a penetrating keratoplasty?

All the best, Chris.

If you'd prefer to put your diary up as a mini-blog in HTML and have the tools for it, I can give you some space on our server for it. Just let me know.

John.

Thanks for the good luck messages all. :D

Val, I do believe last year I was due to have a
Lamellar Keratoplasty but was told then due to the condition of my eye I may wake up to find they performed a penetrating Keratoplasty.

A year on and my eye has become progressive worse so I expect I will have a penetrating keratoplasty.

I'm having the operation at the Kent and Canterbury hospital under the care of Dr Decock.

Paul Osborne who is also a member here had the same procedure under Dr Decock. :D

Thanks John, that is a fantastic offer but sadly I don't have the tools for it. I've sadly left it a little late to sort that out now.

Perhaps though in the future, when I can use a computer more frequently I'll transfer my mini blog over to HTML. (That's if you still have space in the future).

Thanks again all.
