Thanks Alison,
This time tomorrow I hope to be home from my transplant.
I'm rather looking forward to testing out my new cornea.

Thanks Andrew.
Everything is in place and I'm ready and raring to go. But for tonight, I'm just going to settle down with a cup of green tea and a movie. I must make the most of being able to watch TV whilst I can.
Then it's a hot soak in the bath and an early night.
At this rate I'll be so relaxed come tomorrow I won't need a general to send me to sleep.

The afternoon after my op I was watching the F1 grand prix qualifying on the TV
You mean I may be able to watch tv? Superb, I'll be watching Spurs V West ham come Sunday.
I was under the impression I had to avoid it and the computer too.(bar 5 minutes a day)
Note to self: Must do more research before going under the knife.

My cornea transplant
All the very best Chris! We'll all be thinking of you tomorrow. Enjoy that hot tub and sleep well!

Today is D-Day, or at least St David's Day. Not that this has any baring on my operation.
Well just 30 minutes until I leave, on a great note the hospital is only a 10 minute drive. It's great to not have a long drive as being in a car really bugs my eyes.
Not quite like when I had my heart operation in London after christmas. Waiting for a train on a freezing morning at 5.00 am was not the best start to the day.
I'm still feeling very relaxed and dare I say it a little excited. Perhaps it's nervous excitement although I most admit I do feel most at ease.
My only concern is they get the right eye, I'll be sure to check before they send me to sleep
Have a great day all. My healing begins from this afternoon.

Good afternoon all.
Pre op assessment revealed a 50/50 chance of having a partial graft, but my lucky streak came to a temporary halt as I ended up with a penetrating keratoplasty.
The day after my graft and I'm back from my first check up.
Dr says it looks good, I passed the 'how many fingers am I holding up test' but when asked if I could see any letters on the chart I couldn't even find the chart
Still early days, the general anesthetic really wiped me out yesterday. I woke up feeling nauseous and my eye was originally slightly painful. Both passed fairly quickly though and
I returned from the hospital and just slept most of the day and night away.
I was glad to get the patch off this morning, but find it is uncomfortable to keep my eye open for any amount of time. It is very red and very watery but not overly painful. It does feel odd and doesn't like too much light, so for the time being I'm wearing shades but keeping my eye closed most of the time.
I don't have to return for another check up until 2 weeks today. I'm not sure if that's a good sign or whether the good doctor is just fed up with my poor humour. In the mean time I shall be taking 4 drops of maxitrol a day.
I must add that I received great care at the Kent and Canterbury both yesterday and today.
Well my five minutes are up, time for another cup of green tea.
