Update.
Went for a follow-up visit today. The Dr is very happy with the results, the dimple is gone and I can start wearing a hard lens again, but need to start slowly, so only 1 hour/day, and then ramp it up until I'm used to it. I also have to use artificial tear drops regularly. He also said that my vision with lens is good enough that he can't see a corneal graft in the near future, so I'm very happy about that.

Not a fun procedure(s), or healing process, but it was well worth it.
