Raising Awareness of Keratoconus

Postby Lynne Greyvenstein » Wed 18 Oct 2006 10:57 am

I just wondered if anyone felt the same way about raising awareness of Keratoconus. I have never seen any programmes on TV regarding our disease or at any time seen any feature on breakfast TV or any articles in the paper.

Does anyone feel the same way about trying to increase awareness of our issues. Maybe someone should take this on Morning television to raise awareness for young people who are new to the disease and to promote this website as I feel a lot of people get down and depressed and may not know where to reach for some help.

Has anyone got any thoughts on how we should raise awareness.

Lynne

Raising awareness of KC

Lynne - one of the aims of our charity is to raise awareness of KC so ideas are welcome. There have been some newspaper articles. I think some are reproduced on the main website, and there was a good one in the Times a few months ago, which we'll be including in our next newsletter (and we did get several new members who had seen the article). We do also have some 'business cards' with the website address and telephone number of the group. It would be great if more members took advantage of those and took them along to the clinics and optoms they go to so as to spread the word (just contact me if you'd like some).
But there hasn't been anything on radio or TV, so maybe that should be our next step.
