My eyes have resently started to ache really bad and it feels like the muscle around my eye. I end up feeling very light head and generally ill with head aches and feeling sick. i think i might be straining my eyes asd i havent got contacts yet. If any one has had this or knows why i might get it i would be really pleased to hear as it is a big problem at the moment although it doesn't happen to often.

Thanks
Stacexxx :D

I do have RGP lenses but currently still have to wear my glasses for work. I know exactly what you mean when you say your eye aches. I'm not totally sure but I put it down to eye strain whenever I get it. :?

Are you screwing up your eyes to try to focus on things; computer screens, newspapers etc?

If so, I'd suggest that until your lenses arrive you do not try too hard to focus. Make do with the poor sight you have. Lenses will probably make a power of difference, but in the meantime it is not worth the pain and nausea of struggling to see better than you can.

sorry this isn't better news.

Hi Stace. I know exactly what you mean. I've also been having a dull ache above my right eye for the last couple of weeks. I've never had this kind of ache before so like you have been a little concerned.

I also find that wearing specs for a whole day adds to the ache. Its no coincidence that my right eye is the worst affected.

I've put it down to the changes in light due to the days getting shorter. The vision in my right eye is all but useless in dim-light.

Adding to Andrews suggestion, I've found a quick walk in the fresh air (and hopefully sun light) without my specs on helps. It forces you to avoid starring at the laptop and gives your eyes a much needed break. Dimming the computer screen slightly and making sure your room is well lit can also help.

Rich.

I find I just need dim light and i am looking forward to coole autumn/winter nights as I find this far more refreshing for my eyes.

On the computer front, all my screens are dulled down and the red green blue ratio's customised so there is far less of the red and green. Blue is reduced but not as much, evrything has a blue hugh to it but is more comfortable for my eyes.

I have my computer screen on "negative image" This means that I see pale type on dark backgrounds etc. It is useless for looking at photos, but I can always change it if somebody send me a picture of chocolate cake!

On the principal that nobody ought to live with a pain that they do not fully understand, I'd be inclined to make my way at least to my GP, and possibly even to my ophthalmologist either to find relief from the pain or at least a proper explanation of it.

All the best
