How to change hospitals/ Consultants

Postby Studentmac » Tue 10 May 2022 12:15 pm

I live near Glasgow and keep going to Ayr hospital as its always felt important to have continuity of care.

About 3 years after my transplant, I still have no vision, I don't really like my consultant and never have and recently come to realise how easy it would be to get to Gartnavel who also do eye care.

I'm wondering if anyone knows the process to change hospitals and also curious if anyone has any local experience which might suggest its a good or bad move?

I'm also lucky enough I could also potentially go private but I don't know how that split cover would work and would be a bit worried that one day eyesight get worse in my 1 good eye and can no longer afford that luxury.

Your GP should be able to refer you to Gartnavel. and if that's actually nearer where you live, there shouldn't be a problem about switching. Let us know how you get on.
