Irritation after years of graft

Hi guys.

Just wanted a bit of feedback from long term suffers really. Had KC in both eyes. Left has had a full graft about 10 years ago so going well. Awaiting surgery on the right.

The operated eye still gets some irritation, similar to after the op. Rarely, but now and again. It's always been fine after rest or sleeping it off so to speak. Last weekend it flared up for the first time in a while and after good night sleep was ok again, but this weekend I had a bit more irritation too. Just wondered if this wasn't normal, in that it's happened now and again, but should I just except it sometime. Maybe due to tiredness etc?

If anyone else does have similar experience is there anything you do to relive it? Off the shelf drops or similar. Sometimes it can literally stop and be fine in minutes, and others it needs rest and that's all that helps.

My graft has been checked about a year or less ago and all was fine and I'd had irritation now and again before that.

Hi,
Can you describe any more what you mean by 'irritation' and what it feels like? I wore rigid contact lenses after my grafts, so irritation from the lenses was quite common at times. But if you're in specs rather than lenses, it's a bit different.

I've definitely found that my corneal resilience has changed over time, my lens eye needs longer rest periods, 8 hours isn't always enough, I have put in a day break once a week, it doesn't withstand more than 2 reinsertions, and grit, eye mucus or crying can mean removal and that's it for the day, as well as wear time. I'd be interested to know if anyone else experiences this
