Lens wearers and medical emergencies

Postby Green » Sun 17 Oct 2021 1:05 pm

I noticed an ITU worker tweeting about swollen eyelids in a ventilated patient and it was discovered the cause was lenses left in for days. An ophthalmologist responded saying that he had seen this before and fished them out !

I have a suggestion - tell your loved ones so if you're in that position they can say 'check eyes please'.

Also a simple soft silicone medical alert bracelet, I already had one & it lists hosp number, 'please remove lens' if unconscious on it.
