Lifting of covid restrictions

How are you feeling about Johnsons announcements?
Lifting of masks etc, accepting some people will die, "live with it"?

I don't know how hospitals are going to manage this but for me I have no intention to stop using masks with the delta variant, I'm not convinced we have yet reached vaccinated herd immunity.
But I do worry about the hostility I've seen towards mask wearing.
Last year needing ophthalmic A&E the ophthalmologist advised me to wear glasses as eyes are a source of transmission too (I always wear sunglasses outside anyhow).

Bit different for us in Scotland as some mask wearing is to continue etc.

We have very high rates just now so I’m glad they are being a little more cautious here, really don’t think this “let it rip” strategy is a good thing.

I also can’t have the second jab due to the effects I’ve had from the first (four months on) so naturally a little warier.

Agree RedOnion I feel it's Russian roulette with only half the population vaccinated & the delta variant, I believe 3 Scottish hospitals are now code black because of covid.
Every nurse & Dr I saw today said they will continue wearing masks & pretty much intimated they were not happy.

I’ve never been a huge fan of the severe restrictions but I just don’t think abandoning everything is good.

I’ve got friends who work in retail and are a bit worried about how this will affect them.

I think it’s now four hospitals on code black here, one of which is my local. And I’m waiting for two specialist appointments…

no one is forcing anyone to remove a mask and or face shield if they don't want to, just having it advised that they don't need to by a deluded governemt who are clueless when once more it comes to the best interests of those whom are vulnerable and disabled.

Once more they have demonstrated no regard, understanding, empathy or respect to a margonalised group, and failed to lead by example. I could carry on but political posts arent allowed on this forum.

Personally I will continue as I am as it is right for me and my family and those around us, I wont be putting those I care about and love and those who are unsuspecting members of the public at risk by reckless actions just cos Bojo claims it is safe to.

Each to their own tho as we all have to do whaat is right for us
x

Conquered lens trauma's with private optom help, but Moorfields optometry have cut my appts from x2 a year to x1 a year after 30 years which isn't helpful.
Changed ophthalmic consultant which wasn't easy but I'm so relieved I did, it was worth the effort, new consultant & team good. Re-graft failed, having DMEK for PK failure & cataract out, then see if macular hole needs fixing.
Hope you're OK?

oh jeez youv been through the ringer.

Yup am good aside from corneal filements which need removing on a regular basis n sting like a b!tch till they get removed etc.

St James' have only given me one scheduled apt since March last year but Iv been in eye casualty fairly frequently due to teh filaments which then leads to a review in corneal clinic a week or so later and cycle repeats.

Filamentary keratitis? That looks really horrible especially removal at slitlamp, I'd have to be gaffer taped to the slitlamp for that. I'm really sorry that's ongoing for you x
