Advice please

Postby Matt123 » Wed 21 Apr 2021 7:15 pm

Hello everyone

I am after some advise as to where I can source kerasoft IC contact lenses...

Basically up until recently I have been getting my lenses through my local hospital but unfortunately they have discharged me for reasons unknown to myself, as you can imagine I am somewhat in a panic as am desperately in need of a new lens but cannot seem to source one? I am currently in talks with my GP and Pals as to why I have been discharged when I obviously still require the hospital's services!! Any help would be very much appreciated.. also will a private opticians be able to offer lenses at the NHS subsidiary cost? I am in the southwest Bath area.. thanks

Hi Matt and welcome,
As you've been getting your specialist lenses from a hospital clinic, they should not be discharging you without giving you a prescription (HESp) that you can take to an optician who can provide Kerasoft lenses and would then be able to provide them at the subsidised NHS cost
which you're entitled to as someone with a clinical need for contact lenses. But without that prescription, you'd have to pay the commercial price for your lenses.
I hope your GP and PALS can sort this out for you. Another option would be to ask your GP to refer you to the Bristol Eye Hospital which has a large contact lens department. As for opticians in your area who supply Kerasoft, you could try contacting Ultravision, who manufacture the lenses and should be able to tell you which opticians near you have them.
I hope that helps. Let us know what happens.

I got discharged from Colchester a few years ago, which turned out to be an admin error but still a pain in the a**e. I got the docs to re-refer me.
