Hello. I'm Albert and I'm new to this forum. I'm 24 and suffer from KC for about 10 years now.
I'm currently with QMC at Notthingam and wear RPG lenses.

I would like something different tho, different lenses and second opinion which i never had.
How much are lenses outside of NHS ? Sceral, hybrids or RPGs?

Any good specialists around Lincolnshire? I'm from Sleaford.

Hello Albert and welcome,
Outside the NHS, contact lens prices vary according to the type of lens. You'll also be charged for 'chair time' which can be quite expensive when fitting our complex eyes. I think the small rgp lenses are probably not very much more expensive privately than on the NHS. Hybrids and scleral lenses are quite a bit more expensive at several hundred pounds per lens. Have a look at our list of KC friendly optoms https://www.keratoconus-group.org.uk/in ... ometrists/ There are several in your area. You could also talk to your GP about getting a referral for a second opinion.

Hi Albert,

I'm a similar age to you. Recently, I looked into getting hybrids privately, and the quotes were between £350-800 for the pair, depending on the material type. The RGP contacts were around £250 for pair.

If you want something different, I suggest asking your contact lens specialist at your hospital. You can get hybrids and scleral lenses through NHS. Additionally, you can get "KeraSoft" lenses which are far more comfortable than any of the above (in my opinion) but correct KC vision to a slightly lesser degree.
