Bad news - taking some time off

Just thought that i would drop by and post something, thanks for all the mails and pm's wondering where i have got to!

I did have good news from Moorfields and posted about it. Sadly though when one thing goes well another falls apart. Am struggling with health problems which are not eyesight related for a change. For over a month now i have had a numbness in my legs and right arm, to the point that i am finding it hard to type so haven't been around here much and am struggling to write well. Am in work but am finding detailed work hard though refuse to take more sick leave :(

My GP is concerned so i have had neck and spinal x-rays and loads of blood tests and am waiting for results. He is going along the lines of MS but i am hoping that i have some trapped nerves and am seeing a chiropractor to try to make things better.

Right now i can't think of this being MS as that is a chronic muscle wasting condition and i had enough problems being pretty much blind for half of last year that i can't go through another health scare and be off on long term sick again. :(

Am not a happy bunny right now and taking some time off to try to find out what this is and hopefully get better soon. Am really worried as going away for my 30th in two weeks to Austria on a watersports week with my twin sister, but i'm finding it hard to do normal things let alone go white water rafting!

Trying to be positive though as i did get through seven months sick leave last summer with my eyesight so am sure that i can get through this as well. Just tired of being sick and hoping that there is no link between KC and MS :(

Never heard of that link. I hope it is not MS that is a nasty disease. I hope it is trapped nerves as well. Good luck I am sending you lots of prayers.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm obviously no expert, but I thought that MS was a gradual thing, and your recent issues came on fairly suddenly, didn't they?

I really hope you're feeling a lot better soon.

I have the weakness you describe in my arms and that is a result of the damage the type of work I do has done. The damage is a combination of nerve and tendon.

Plenty of time off and loads physio has made the whole thing managable and although do not do all the same stuff I used to, it has not held me back in any way.

Not until a car hit mine three weeks ago but now the physio is kicking in again.

Lets hope it is this which is afflicting you as it is quite manageable.

Oh Sweet,

this does not sound fun, but I am sure it could be 100 other things before MS so try and stay positive.
