Diagnosed with KC but unsure of treatment given

Postby benlewis95 » Thu 12 Oct 2017 4:51 pm

Hi, I've just been diagnosed with severe KC in my left eye. I've been prescribed a contact lens and glasses (which I am still waiting for). I went in yesterday to have the contact lens put in which is a soft monthly lens but as I was led to believe by the optometrist this lens would be for my left eye which is the eye that is affected badly and my glasses would be to balance out the repairable vision in my right eye. When I was seen yesterday the lens was put in the right eye, which has confused me as how is this going to correct the bad vision in my left eye? Thanks in advance,

Ben.

Hi Ben and welcome,
That does sound confusing and I'd have thought you need to contact the optometrist to check this out. Are you getting your lenses/glasses from a High Street optometrist or from a hospital eye clinic?

Ben,

Have you got the right lens? And does it help your vision? Perhaps they decided that the right eye also needed a lens under the glasses. Hopefully when you go back to get your glasses you will be able to see how the lenses and glasses work together.
