hi recently diagnosed with KC in one eye and wear rpg contact which gives good improved vision the other is good with no KC at all
confused as whether i neeed to let the dvla know from their web site i quote

please advise as this intimates notifying a condition that affects both eyes if you have two?

Yes, that does sound as though you don't need to notify DVLA unless at some point there are signs of KC in your other eye. It might still be worth notifying your insurer though just to be sure that you would be covered for any claim in the future (or at least checking all the small print on your insurance policy).

Update for an exercise yesterday i rang the dvla medical line on 3 different times spoke to 3 different advisors
Asking all to explain the statement about affecting both eyes they all said thats right...strange until i mentioned KC
Then it was oh yes you do... ah right i said ....explained that KC isnt mentioned as a condition on the website even if you put keratoconus in the search box ...but on their screen it is listed suggested they amend the website ...so now filling in their V1Form

Update also had an online chat session with my insurers...do this as you get a transcript of your conversation.
upshot is ....explained my condition and what i do to best correct it ie contact lens for drving which gives me near on 20/20 overall vision they said thats all fine in their view
Same as if you wore specs to drive.... not sure this is applicable to every insurer though

No, macular degeneration is a completely different eye condition affecting the retina, not the cornea.

Never informed anyone KC is not in the list. Been driving for 21 years

The opthamlologist said as long as when they do an eye test you are 20/20 with both eyes you dont need to declare it.

Obviously if your vision declines you can not drive, would not be insured, and must inform the DVLA.
