Andrew MacLean, RIP

Postby John Smith » Tue 06 Oct 2015 7:43 am

All,

I'm sorry to have to announce that Andrew MacLean, forum stalwart, Church of Scotland Minister and genial contributor to our 2009 Scottish conference passed away yesterday.

Andrew was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year and died at home (after a short stay at a local hospice) surrounded by his family.

He leaves a wife Alison and a son, a daughter and a grandson. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Didn't have the pleasure of meeting Andrew but hugely appreciated his contribution to the forum.

I only met Andrew once, when we had our conference in Glasgow in 2009. He was always there for anybody in the group with advice and gave a good talk about he life with KC. A group of us went out for a meal in the evening and had a great chat with him over a meal and a beer or two. He will be missed

I also met Andrew at the Glasgow conference, but above all knew him through the forum where his warmth, wit and wisdom helped so many people. In recent months, he was too unwell to post, but it is still difficult to imagine this forum without him. We were very privileged to have him as a member and a moderator and will miss him hugely. But I am sure people will continue to read the many wise words he wrote here, and continue to find reassurance and comfort in the many wonderful contributions he made.
RIP

That is so sad to hear, he was always so helpful, positive and encouraging on this forum. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace Andrew, my thoughts to his family x
